Public sector oil marketing companies have cautioned LPG distributors to deliver cooking gas cylinders to domestic customers without delay, warning that violations will invite action.
Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum supply 14.2-kg cylinders for households and 19-kg cylinders for commercial use across Tamil Nadu and the rest of the country.
An official said LPG distribution, which was affected in March due to a war-like situation in West Asia, has now returned to normal. Domestic supply is being maintained without disruption, while commercial supply is at about 70%.
Agencies have been instructed to deliver promptly to customers who have booked cylinders. The companies said surveillance has been intensified to prevent hoarding and black-market sales.
Action has been taken against 76 agencies nationwide, including two in Tamil Nadu. To curb irregularities, deliveries to homes are being verified through a secret code system in 95% of cases, which will be raised to 100% soon.
