Nine ministers, along with Vijay, were sworn in today as part of the Tamil Nadu cabinet. Brief profiles released by the party highlight a mix of experienced legislators and first-time faces drawn from professional backgrounds.
Anand, originally from Puducherry, began his political journey in the Congress and later worked as an aide to former minister Ashraf. He went on to lead Vijay’s fan club and rose to become the party’s general secretary from its inception; his stated educational qualification is Class 9.
Senior leader Sengottaiyan, a long-time legislator, has been elected to the Assembly for the 10th time. A politician from the MGR era, he served in the Jayalalithaa and EPS cabinets and handled portfolios including forests, transport, agriculture and education before joining Vijay’s party ahead of the election; his stated qualification is Class 10.
Among the new entrants, Arunraj from Salem is a doctor with an MBBS from Chennai Medical College, who served as a rural doctor and later as an Income Tax officer after clearing civil services, before taking voluntary retirement and winning from Tiruchengode. Venkataramanan from Chennai, an auditor with M.Com and MBA (Finance), won from Mylapore and is described as handling Vijay’s financial matters while serving as party treasurer.
Nirmalkumar (BE, LLB, MA), elected from Tirupparankundram, previously worked in the IT wings of the BJP and AIADMK before moving to Vijay’s party. Rajmohan (B.Tech), a noted speaker and YouTube personality, won from Egmore, while Prabhu, a dentist, won from Karaikudi after gaining visibility through social service and social media. Keerthana (MSc Statistics), elected from Sivakasi, is noted for speaking Tamil, English and Hindi. Aadhav Arjuna, who won from Villivakkam, earlier belonged to VCK, faced action for indiscipline, later joined Vijay’s party, and runs an election strategy firm called “Voice of Commons.”
