Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated C Joseph Vijay on assuming office as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, and wished him a successful tenure. He said the Union government would continue to work with the Tamil Nadu government to improve people’s lives.

PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss said he hoped the new government under Vijay would deliver good governance by prioritising public welfare, social justice and development. He added that the administration should meet the expectations of the people.

Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G K Vasan extended his greetings and urged the Chief Minister to govern in line with the ideals associated with Kamarajar and Moopanar, including the vision of a “prosperous Tamil Nadu and a strong India.”

CPM state secretary P Shanmugam welcomed Vijay’s announcement of free electricity for two months—200 units for households consuming up to 500 units. He also welcomed the assurance that households consuming above 500 units would continue to receive the existing 100 units of free power.

CPI state secretary M Veerappandian said the new government should uphold Tamil Nadu’s secular ethos and “unity in diversity,” fulfil public expectations, and protect state rights against centralisation. He also said the government should carry forward welfare schemes of the previous administration.
