US President Donald Trump has said Iran’s response to Washington’s efforts to ease the escalating crisis in West Asia and the Gulf region is “totally unacceptable.”
The conflict began in late February when Israel and the United States launched a war against Iran, according to the report. As fighting intensified, Iran shut the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global crude oil shipments, triggering a rise in oil prices and contributing to fuel shortages in several countries.
Trump announced a plan under which the US would provide security for oil tankers transporting crude to other nations without Iran’s involvement. Iran condemned the move and warned that foreign warships operating near its borders would be attacked.
Commenting on Iran’s reply to US efforts to end the war, Trump said he did not like it and described it as unacceptable. He also warned that the US would act against anyone approaching Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium, and claimed Iran had been militarily defeated.
Meanwhile, reports said the UK is preparing to send its warship “Dragon” for security duties to support international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran objected strongly and warned against the deployment of British and French warships, while China urged regional countries to take firm steps to restore uninterrupted passage and ensure the safety of ships and crews.
