Chennai: Newly elected AIADMK MLA Mohan, representing Panruti, became emotional in the Tamil Nadu Assembly after paying respects to former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s portrait while taking oath.
After completing the oath, Mohan reportedly broke down in tears and again bowed before the portrait. He appealed in an emotional voice, asking “Amma, protect us” and seeking blessings.
The scene drew attention inside the House and was said to have moved not only AIADMK members but legislators from other parties as well.
Earlier, as he arrived for the swearing-in, Mohan briefly searched for AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami in the gathering. After locating him, he went up and greeted him respectfully.
