The National Testing Agency (NTA) has cancelled the NEET entrance exam conducted across India on May 3, following complaints that the question paper was leaked.
NEET, the national-level test for undergraduate medical admissions, was held under what officials described as full security arrangements. The exam took place at 551 centres in India and 14 centres abroad, with more than 23 lakh candidates appearing.
According to the NTA, complaints pointed to malpractice in Rajasthan. An inquiry was conducted and the irregularities were confirmed based on evidence recovered during the investigation.
The agency said 40 people have been arrested in connection with the case. The NTA has recommended a CBI investigation, which the Union government has accepted and announced. The NTA said details of the re-examination will be issued soon.
