Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi reportedly expressed anger during a meeting with Tamil Nadu Congress leaders, urging them to focus on strengthening the party in the state.

Rahul had arrived in Tamil Nadu to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay as Chief Minister. He stayed at a star hotel near Meenambakkam in Chennai and later proceeded to the event.

After the ceremony, Rahul visited the Tamil Nadu Congress headquarters, Sathyamurthy Bhavan. Reports said a jostling incident occurred there, following which he returned to the hotel.

At the hotel, he held discussions with senior leaders and office-bearers, heard their views, and then reportedly remarked in an angry tone that they should “at least now” work to grow the party in Tamil Nadu before leaving for Delhi.

Separately, dissatisfaction was raised over alleged inadequate security arrangements for Rahul at Sathyamurthy Bhavan. Former TN Congress office-bearer Mayilai Ashok Kumar, in a statement, said the reception was not properly organised, claimed outsiders crowded in and Rahul lost balance, and called for action against those responsible and an inquiry into the security lapse by the Union Home Ministry.
