The Tamil Nadu government has issued an order appointing Ricky Ratan Pandit Vetrivel as Special Officer in Chief Minister Vijay’s political division in Chennai.
Following the recent Assembly election, the TVK formed the government with the support of parties including the Congress and VCK, after winning 108 constituencies. After Vijay assumed office as Chief Minister, appointments to key posts in the Chief Minister’s office have been under way.
In this backdrop, the government named Pandit Vetrivel—described as a well-known astrologer and the TVK’s spokesperson—to the role. Officials said his responsibilities would be assigned soon.
The report notes that he has over four decades of experience in astrology and numerology, and had earlier predicted that the TVK would win up to 140 seats in the 2026 Assembly election. It also mentions that after moving to Delhi in 2008, he began using the name “Ricky Ratan Pandit Vetrivel,” and that he is said to have occasionally advised former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
