Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in again as the Chief Minister of Assam, taking charge for a second consecutive term. The oath ceremony was held in Guwahati in the presence of senior leaders.
Assam’s 126-seat Assembly went to polls on April 9, with results declared on May 4. The BJP won 82 seats, while its allies Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People’s Front secured 10 seats each, taking the NDA tally to 102.
With the BJP returning to power, Sarma’s reappointment was presented as an endorsement of his leadership. Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the event as the chief guest at the Veterinary College field in Guwahati. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J P Nadda, and several NDA chief ministers and deputy chief ministers were also present.
Along with Sarma, four others were sworn in as ministers. The ceremony was also streamed live online, including on Dinamalar’s YouTube platforms.
