Tamil Nadu on Monday announced that an Anti-Narcotics Force will be formed under the direct supervision of the Chief Minister. The government said an official order has been issued in this regard.
According to the order, dedicated anti-narcotics police stations will be established at 65 locations across the state, including 12 in Chennai. The force will focus on detecting drug-related offences and initiating strict action.
The government also said 37 police stations—one in each district—will be set up to strengthen anti-drug enforcement. The Chief Minister has instructed officials to intensify efforts to identify and curb narcotics-related crimes.
In addition, a state-wide “Singappen” special rapid response unit with modern facilities will be created to enhance women’s safety. Complaints related to women’s safety will be acted upon swiftly, the order said.
