Actor Kamal Haasan on Tuesday praised Chief Minister Vijay, saying it was a matter of pride that someone from the film industry had entered politics.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Kamal said people can come into politics from any profession, and added that Vijay should not be viewed only as a film actor.

He also welcomed the government’s order to close 717 liquor shops, noting that the issue had been discussed for a long time and was now being implemented.

Kamal said Vijay has responsibilities beyond cinema and extended his wishes for the move to be carried out effectively.
