New Delhi: RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale has said that voters have already delivered their response in the Assembly election to Tamil Nadu opposition leader Udhayanidhi’s criticism of Sanatan.
Udhayanidhi, speaking in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Monday, referred to various issues and concluded by saying that “Sanatan”, which he described as divisive, should be eradicated. His remarks have drawn strong reactions from multiple quarters.
In an interview to PTI, Hosabale said the statement reflected Udhayanidhi’s personal view, but added that the public had answered it through the election outcome.
Hosabale further asserted that Sanatan would never be destroyed, describing it as the nation’s “life force” and “soul”. He said it was not merely about praising a religion, but a set of values that is timeless.
Using a metaphor, he compared Sanatan to a banyan tree, saying it remains firm over the years with deep, strong roots and continues to stay fresh and resilient.
