Chennai: Chief Minister Vijay on Tuesday asserted in the Tamil Nadu Assembly that his administration would function “at horse speed” and would not engage in horse-trading.

Replying during the debate on the confidence motion he had moved, Vijay said MLAs had spoken both in support and in opposition, and he thanked all members who took part in the discussion.

He also said that, as the Congress had pointed out, the government would remain secular. Vijay added that his administration would continue welfare schemes introduced by previous governments.

Stating that Tamil Nadu’s past governments across parties had implemented welfare programmes and laws that stood as examples of social justice, he said his government would be guided by those principles and by his party’s ideological leaders.

Urging the House to pass the resolution, Vijay said the government would not deviate even slightly from the guiding policies of leaders who worked for Tamil Nadu’s progress.
