Coimbatore’s integrated court complex on Government Arts College Road is facing severe space constraints, with more than 55 courts functioning within about 10 acres. The article says there is inadequate space for public movement, vehicle parking and even basic court operations, including storage of case records.
It argues that all courts in the complex should be relocated outside the city limits. Such a move, it says, would allow new courts to be opened in line with rising caseloads, ease congestion in the city centre and support growth as the city boundary expands.
The piece also flags persistent issues in municipal offices, alleging that routine services—from birth certificates to building plan approvals and property tax records—are difficult to obtain without repeated visits and bribes. It claims petitions often receive only generic replies, while citizens struggle to meet officials, with department heads frequently away on inspections and files not moving on time.
On education administration, it calls for a district-level integrated school office campus with an auditorium for trainings and meetings, and a warehouse to store books. It also seeks more model schools and a government-run special coaching centre to strengthen preparation for entrance exams such as JEE and NEET.
For transport and administration, the article urges opening and upgrading the partially built integrated bus stand at Vellalore so all outstation buses operate from one location, reducing confusion and city traffic. It also reiterates a long-pending proposal to split Coimbatore North taluk into two for better governance, citing its large population and area and an earlier detailed recommendation sent to the government.
