VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan on Wednesday dismissed speculation around a sofa brought to his party office in Chennai, saying it had been ordered in advance and was not arranged for Vijay’s visit.

Speaking to reporters, he said the media entered the office with cameras at the time, leading to unnecessary interpretations. He added that Udhayanidhi did not make the remark by pointing to the VCK office, and suggested it may have been in reference to the Chief Minister meeting a faction of the AIADMK.

Thirumavalavan also referred to the Chief Minister Vijay’s speech during the confidence motion in the Assembly, noting the assurance that schemes implemented by the previous government would continue without interruption. He said it was reassuring that the women’s rights assistance scheme would be continued.

However, he pointed out that the date for crediting the amount to women’s bank accounts has been announced as slightly delayed. Still, he said the assurance that it would be provided gives confidence that the scheme will be implemented.

He further said he was not aware of any attempt to make him Chief Minister and came to know only through friends. He rejected allegations that he delayed extending support to TVK for the sake of the Chief Minister’s post, stating he was not waiting for such a position.
