US President Donald Trump met Chinese President Xi Jinping for face-to-face talks in Beijing during a three-day official visit to China, drawing global attention.
According to the report, the leaders discussed ongoing trade frictions, including disputes linked to tariffs and the broader “trade war” between the two countries.
Trump urged China to use its influence to help ease tensions involving Iran and to support a diplomatic understanding, amid concerns such as the Iran conflict, disruption in the Strait of Hormuz and energy shortages.
Xi welcomed Trump back to China after nine years and said the world was closely watching the meeting. He called for the two powers to focus on shared interests, build a “golden future” for bilateral ties, and act as partners rather than rivals.
Trump said he expected the relationship to improve further and noted that leading US business executives had accompanied him, expressing interest in expanding trade and industrial cooperation on a reciprocal basis.
