Paris: A fresh controversy has surfaced around French President Emmanuel Macron after a new book alleged he maintained a secret line of contact with an Iranian-origin actress.
The book, An Almost Perfect Couple, written by French journalist Florian Tardif, links the claim to a viral video from May last year when Macron visited Hanoi, Vietnam. In the clip, his wife Brigitte appeared to push him angrily as he got off the aircraft—an incident that was then described by Macron’s side as mere joking.
According to the author, the real trigger was Brigitte Macron allegedly noticing messages sent from Macron’s phone to actress Golshifteh Farahani. The book says this discovery led to the tense exchange seen at the airport, including an alleged slap.
Brigitte Macron’s side has categorically rejected the account, saying she never checked her husband’s phone. The journalist, however, has insisted he did not publish the claims without basis, fuelling political chatter in France.
