New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said there is a need to conduct the NEET examination online from next year, indicating a shift to a computer-based testing model.
He said the Centre is prioritising the protection of students’ futures and will not compromise on that. According to him, there were no issues in the exam held on May 3, while problems surfaced in the test conducted on May 7.
Pradhan said the CBI is investigating the controversy and several state governments are also conducting inquiries. Authorities are examining how the question paper was leaked, and the government will ensure such incidents do not recur.
He added that the government will not allow “mafias” to take away students’ seats through money or influence and is determined to act against exam rackets. For any re-examination, students will not have to pay a fee and will be given an option to choose their preferred exam centre, with the NTA expected to issue a detailed report.
Pradhan also urged students not to believe rumours related to the NEET controversy, acknowledging shortcomings in the exam system and stating that corrective steps are being taken.
