Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the war involving Iran has created serious economic repercussions, affecting Pakistan as well as other regional economies.

Speaking in Islamabad, Sharif argued that Pakistan must show the same dedication and hard work that helped it become a nuclear power, and channel that commitment into transforming the country into an economic force.

He described nuclear capability as a national security asset meant for defence, not for aggression. Because of this posture, he said, Pakistan is recognised internationally as a responsible nuclear state.

Sharif added that the conflict in West Asia has intensified economic pressures across the region, with Pakistan among the countries facing the impact.
