Chennai: Astrologer Ricky Radhan Pandit has claimed that actors Ajith and Vijay both had the potential to become Chief Minister, but only Vijay chose to act on it and has now become CM.
Pandit, who was briefly appointed as a special officer in the Chief Minister’s political wing, faced sharp criticism from opposition parties, after which the appointment was cancelled. In an interview to a private TV channel, he said the post was given out of affection and came as a surprise to him, adding that he learnt about the cancellation while returning from Palani after tonsuring.
He said the withdrawal was done to avoid an “unnecessary controversy” and insisted his role had no connection to astrology. Pandit claimed Vijay does not place major faith in astrology, and that he was chosen for his political experience and his ability to communicate.
In the interview, Pandit also spoke about his past associations with leaders such as Jayalalithaa and L.K. Advani, and made several political predictions and assessments. He said Ajith has stayed away from public life by choice, while Vijay had the desire to enter politics and has done so.
Pandit further made expansive claims about Vijay’s future and described him in highly reverential terms, while also commenting on the prospects of AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami and the party’s trajectory.
