Lucknow beat Chennai by seven wickets at the Vajpayee Stadium, chasing down a target of 188 with ease. After winning the toss, Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant opted to bowl first.
Chennai’s top order struggled early, slipping to 52/3 in 7.2 overs as Akash Singh struck key blows. A recovery effort followed through a steady partnership, with Karthik Sharma leading the fightback.
Karthik hit 71 off 42 balls, including six fours and five sixes, while Shivam Dube provided a late surge in the final over. Chennai finished on 187/5 in 20 overs, with Dube (32*) and Prashanth (13*) unbeaten.
In reply, Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis gave Lucknow a flying start as Chennai’s bowlers leaked runs. Marsh raced to a 21-ball fifty and went on to hammer 90 off 38 before being run out, missing a century.
Despite losing Inglis for 36, Lucknow stayed in control, with Nicholas Pooran adding quick runs to seal the chase. Lucknow reached 188/3 in 16.4 overs, leaving Chennai’s playoff chances under pressure.
