Reports suggest actor Rajinikanth is attempting to help reunite the AIADMK as the party faces internal divisions. The information was shared by a few functionaries associated with Rajini Makkal Mandram.

According to them, Rajinikanth may have stayed away from active politics, but continues to closely track developments in Tamil Nadu. They recalled that he recently met DMK leader M.K. Stalin, after which efforts were made to explore a DMK–AIADMK alliance to form a government, though the attempt did not succeed.

With a split emerging in the AIADMK against general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the functionaries said Rajinikanth—who is described as having a long-standing affinity for the party—has begun gathering updates through people close to him over the past week.

They added that he has been consulting Rajini Makkal Mandram office-bearers and close friends within the Tamil Nadu BJP. The sources further claimed he directly told senior AIADMK leaders that the party is necessary for Tamil Nadu and urged them to stop infighting and work together.

The functionaries also said Rajinikanth regrets not entering politics and is concerned about the AIADMK’s split. They claimed he has been considering whether, if age and health permit, he could step in to help reorganise the party, and that he would take a decision in due course.
