Sri Lankan Member of Parliament Ramanathan Arjuna, who is on a visit to Tamil Nadu, levelled sharp allegations against Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman during a media interaction at the Chennai Secretariat on Friday.
Arjuna claimed that Seeman had not even provided a single meal to people who came from Sri Lanka, including those from Jaffna now living in Rameswaram. He alleged that Seeman collected crores of rupees from them for his politics and “did nothing” in return.
The MP also spoke about Tamil Nadu’s political change, saying people had voted for an unprecedented transformation. He said he had wished to witness actor-turned-politician Vijay taking charge as Chief Minister but could not, as he was in Sri Lanka’s Parliament at the time.
Arjuna criticised past DMK and AIADMK governments for “watching” when his community was under threat, and said Vijay should speak in support of Eelam Tamils. He further alleged that Seeman raised the Eelam Tamil issue mainly to secure votes, while insisting his opposition to Seeman was political and not personal.
He warned that if Seeman continued on the same path, it could benefit Seeman’s family while people in Jaffna would be severely affected. Arjuna also dismissed Seeman’s “turtle meat” story as false.
