Amazon MGM Studios has said it has not yet finalised who will play James Bond in the next film, adding that the casting process is currently in progress.
The 007 character, created by British novelist Ian Fleming, has remained a global pop-culture icon across novels, films, comics and video games. The first Bond film, Dr. No, released in 1962, featured Sean Connery in the lead role.
Over the decades, the role has been played by George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. The most recent Bond film was released in 2021 with Craig as the spy.
With strong worldwide interest in the franchise, speculation around the next actor has continued. Amazon MGM said it has no plan to reveal details while casting is ongoing, but is keen to provide correct information to Bond fans soon.
Reports have linked names such as Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Idris Elba, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Patrick Gibson to the role. The studio also said noted casting director Nina Gold is involved in the selection process.
