Actor Rajinikanth on Saturday addressed criticism over his recent meeting with DMK leader M.K. Stalin, saying the visit was purely personal and not politically motivated.
Speaking to reporters at his Poes Garden residence in Chennai, Rajinikanth said social media and political circles had been circulating claims after the election results. He added that if such allegations are left unanswered, they could be mistaken for truth.
Rajinikanth said he met Stalin soon after the results because they have been friends for around 40 years and their relationship is beyond politics. While defeat and victory are normal in a democracy, he said he felt uncomfortable about Stalin’s loss and visited him as a friend.
He strongly rejected allegations that he met Stalin to prevent Vijay from becoming Chief Minister or to bring together two major parties, saying he was “not that kind of person.”
Rajinikanth also praised Vijay’s victory, calling it bigger than the achievements associated with MGR and NTR, and said he had no jealousy. He noted that he had congratulated Vijay on X and expressed confidence that the new Chief Minister would do good for the people, while urging Vijay’s supporters to be careful as their mistakes could affect him.
