Sharp criticism at Coimbatore airport
Former AIADMK minister Sengottaiyan on Saturday launched a strong attack on AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), saying the party founded by MGR and led by Jayalalithaa has weakened under his leadership.
Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore airport, Sengottaiyan said a person who believes “I alone am enough” will eventually be shown otherwise by time. He alleged that EPS has been functioning with a one-man mindset and said the situation would inevitably change.
On questions about ministers and governance
Responding to queries on how many ministers the AIADMK has, he said the media itself could answer that, adding that he had not made any statement so far. He noted that the government had been in office for only two days and questioned why so many questions were being raised so soon.
He said portfolios had only just been allocated and that he was heading to Chennai, arguing it was not possible to respond to every issue immediately.
Claims on early achievements
Sengottaiyan said the public had welcomed the 200-unit free electricity scheme. He added that action was continuing on women’s safety and drug prevention, and said 717 TASMAC outlets near bus stands and temples had been removed based on the principle that such shops should not operate in those locations.
He claimed that such swift achievements soon after taking charge were unmatched in India, except by Chief Minister Vijay.
