Beijing: During US President Donald Trump’s recent trip to China, a delegation of American government officials accompanied him on the three-day visit.
According to the report, Chinese officials presented the visiting team with various souvenir gifts, including electronic items.
However, an instruction was issued that the gifts provided by Chinese officials should not be taken inside the US President’s special aircraft. As a result, American officials reportedly threw the items into a trash bin located near the aircraft.
Officials were quoted as saying this was not a new practice and has been followed by US delegations visiting China for generations. The stated reason was to avoid any potential opportunity for Chinese surveillance or espionage, as China is known for its secret monitoring methods.
