Chennai: Astrologer Ricky Ratan Pandit, who was appointed as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s personal political adviser and later removed following sharp criticism, is said to be deeply upset over the episode.
According to talk in Delhi political circles, a former DMK MP had introduced the astrologer to a prominent BJP MP, who was considered close to LK Advani. The BJP leader reportedly took Ricky Ratan to Advani, where the astrologer read Advani’s horoscope and confidently predicted he would become the next Prime Minister.
The report says this happened during Manmohan Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister. In 2008, when Left parties withdrew support over the India–US nuclear deal, the astrologer is said to have told Advani that the government would fall and that Advani would then become Prime Minister.
However, the Manmohan Singh government survived the July 22, 2008 confidence vote after receiving support from Mulayam Singh’s Samajwadi Party. Ricky Ratan is also said to have later predicted Advani would become Prime Minister after winning the 2009 Lok Sabha election, which too did not happen.
The astrologer, who is now said to be distressed after being appointed and then removed as Vijay’s special secretary, reportedly believes that some within the TVK were unhappy with him and leaked details about him to the media.
