VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan has said that switching alliances after an election cannot be justified, citing the long association and shared electoral effort with existing partners.
Speaking to reporters, he said the alliance had travelled together for seven to eight years and that victories were achieved with the combined votes and groundwork of partners. He added that the support was mobilised around the idea that M.K. Stalin would be Chief Minister.
Thirumavalavan further asserted that the mandate also reflected opposition to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), even if it was positioned against the AIADMK as well. In such a context, he said, moving to a different alliance would naturally create discomfort.
He explained that the party did not take an immediate decision because wider consultations were needed within the organisation, where multiple views exist. He also criticised pressure tactics, including claims about an impending President’s Rule, and said it was unreasonable to demand instant announcements without considering the circumstances.
