A minority rights organisation has alleged that attacks on minority communities have continued in Bangladesh despite a change in government. In a report covering February 17 to April 30, it said 111 cases linked to violence, arson and attacks on temples were registered during the period.

According to the report released by the Sanadani Foundation, 24 people from minority communities, including Hindus, were killed in brutal incidents, including assaults and shootings.

The group also claimed that there were 16 complaints of forced seizure of ancestral lands, homes and agricultural fields belonging to minorities.

The developments come after Bangladesh saw political changes following protests in 2024, and later parliamentary elections in which BNP leader Tariq Rahman took office as the country’s 11th prime minister in February.

India has registered strong condemnation over the situation prevailing in Bangladesh, the report said.
