Tamil Nadu Census Director Sundaresh Babu said the first phase of the upcoming census process will allow the public to submit their self-details online in 16 languages.
He said the online self-enumeration window will be open from July 17 to July 31. During this period, people can choose a preferred language—including Tamil, English and Hindi—and enter their details.
The house listing phase will be conducted from August 1 to August 31. Officials said a total of 33 questions will be covered as part of the house listing exercise.
Sundaresh Babu was speaking at a training camp for master trainers of field staff at the Anna Institute of Management in Chennai. The camp began on Sunday and will continue until May 21.
He added that while registering online, users must first select the language and provide the head of the family’s name and a phone number. Once submitted, these entries cannot be changed, and the collected personal data will be securely protected.
