The collegium has recommended 19 candidates to the Union government for appointment as judges of the Madras High Court.
The collegium system is responsible for recommending appointments and transfers of judges to High Courts and the Supreme Court, and is headed by a Supreme Court judge with senior judges as members.
The Madras High Court has 75 sanctioned judge posts, of which 25 are currently vacant. Against this backdrop, the collegium has forwarded the following 19 names for consideration.
Recommended names: P. Murugan, M.D. Sumathi, S. Alli, Thirumagal Chandrasekar, Dharmalingam Lingeswaran, Karthikeyan Balathandayutham, Natarajan Ramesh, G.K. Muthukkumar, Ramakrishnan Rajesh Vivekanandan, Sankaranarayanan Ravikumar, Nagarajan Dileepkumar, Ellappan Manoharan, Krishnaswamy Govindarajan, Rajnish Badhil, Appadurai (alias) Kandavel Appadurai, Ramasamy Anita, Shanmugam Karthikeyan, Balusamy Murugesan, and N. Gunasekaran.
