Chennai: Congress MLAs Rajeshkumar and Viswanathan are likely to be included in Chief Minister Vijay’s cabinet, according to sources.
Vijay assumed office as Chief Minister after winning the Tamil Nadu Assembly election. As per his stated commitment, he is expected to allot two cabinet positions to the Congress, which joined the alliance after the election.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore had recently confirmed that the party would be given two ministerial berths. Following this, discussions were held between the Thaveka leadership and the Congress high command on selecting two ministers from the party’s five MLAs.
Sources now indicate that Rajeshkumar and Viswanathan are the frontrunners for induction. If confirmed, it would mark the Congress returning to the state cabinet after 59 years.
