The DMK has launched an internal field inquiry to identify the reasons behind its defeat in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly election. Party president M.K. Stalin has constituted a 36-member team to conduct on-ground assessments across all 234 constituencies.

According to party functionaries, the team has begun visits with two members assigned per constituency. They are collecting feedback from party workers and compiling inputs on what contributed to the loss.

The inquiry is being carried out using a 14-question framework, covering issues such as shortcomings attributed to DMK candidates, internal party problems, public perceptions, and factors that led to the party losing its winning chances.

The party leadership has instructed that district secretaries, candidates and constituency in-charges should not be present during the questioning process. After each day’s work, the two-member team will complete the constituency report the same day and submit their notes separately.

All findings will be consolidated into a report to be prepared by the 5th of next month and submitted to Stalin. Based on the outcome, the DMK leadership is expected to consider major organisational restructuring and swift changes.
