Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said trade and investment relations between India and Iceland are set to receive a new impetus, as he met Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir on the sidelines of the 3rd India–Nordic Summit in Oslo.
The summit brought together leaders from Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden. Modi is on a European tour that includes the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway; India also signed 17 agreements with the Netherlands during the visit.
In a post on X, Modi said India values its friendship with Iceland and discussed ways to deepen cooperation across sectors such as fisheries, geothermal energy and carbon storage.
He also highlighted Iceland’s strengths in the “blue economy” — economic activity linked to oceans and coastal resources — and expressed confidence that the historic EFTA and the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) would add momentum to trade and investment ties.
