Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday warned that a “storm” is approaching the Indian economy, and said ordinary citizens would be forced to bear the brunt of it.
Speaking to reporters in Uttar Pradesh, Gandhi alleged that the economic structure reshaped by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was designed to favour industrialists such as Adani and Ambani, and claimed it would not be sustainable.
He said the system was headed for a collapse and argued that the coming shock would hit Uttar Pradesh’s youth and people the hardest. According to him, farmers, workers and small business owners would be severely affected, while Adani, Ambani and the Prime Minister would not face the impact.
Gandhi said the fallout could be among the biggest seen in years and warned that a difficult period lay ahead. He also criticised the Prime Minister for advising people to avoid foreign travel while continuing to travel abroad himself.
