The West Bengal unit of the BJP has released a list claiming that Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, a relative of former chief minister Mamata Banerjee, is linked to 43 properties in Kolkata.

The development comes amid a series of administrative actions after BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari assumed charge as chief minister. Recently, notices were issued seeking building-approval documents for 17 locations said to be connected to Abhishek Banerjee, along with directions to remove any unauthorised constructions within seven days.

Abhishek Banerjee had earlier alleged that the steps were politically motivated and said he would not bow down even if authorities demolished his house.

In its latest claim, the BJP said the list was prepared using data taken from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation website and shared related documents on social media. Party sources said the government would probe who the actual owners are, the funding sources used to purchase the properties, and whether any irregularities occurred.

The Trinamool Congress denied the allegation, calling the list false and unreliable. In a statement, the party said the list itself contains owner details such as addresses and phone numbers, and invited doubters to verify on the ground, while warning of legal action against those spreading misinformation.
