India is set to host the BRICS summit in Delhi on September 12 and 13, at a time of heightened global geopolitical tensions.

The Kremlin has officially confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the summit in person. This will be Putin’s second visit to India within the past year.

Chinese President Xi Jinping is also widely expected to participate, though no official confirmation was cited. If Xi attends, it would mark his first official visit to India since his 2019 trip to Mamallapuram.

India-China relations have remained strained following the 2020 Galwan Valley clash and the 2022 border tensions near Tawang. The possible presence of both leaders has drawn attention as BRICS meets amid global economic and conflict-related pressures.
