New Delhi: The Union government has imposed a ban on the youth-led satirical political movement called the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’, which was formed in protest against remarks attributed to Chief Justice of India Suryakant about unemployed youth.

According to the report, the Chief Justice had criticised unemployed youngsters by comparing them to cockroaches and calling them parasites on society. The comments triggered backlash among youths, leading to the creation of the movement.

The initiative was launched on May 16 by Abhijeet Dipke as a social media-based campaign. It quickly gained traction online, with a growing number of followers.

The government’s action has resulted in the movement’s social media page being blocked, despite it reportedly having around 1.5 crore followers. The move has caused shock among many young supporters.

Meanwhile, the creator has said a new page titled ‘Cockroach Is Back’ has been started.
