Former AIADMK minister O.S. Manian has claimed that Minister Adhav Arjuna, who has shifted between multiple parties and is now with TVK, had earlier explored joining the AIADMK.
According to Manian, when Adhav Arjuna exited the VCK, he intended to enter the AIADMK but sought the post of deputy general secretary. Manian said the request was turned down, after which Adhav Arjuna joined TVK.
Separately, AIADMK MLA and Farmers’ Wing secretary Agri Krishnamoorthy said a meeting of district secretaries and senior functionaries was held under party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. He said 75 of 78 district secretaries and 60 of 81 senior functionaries attended.
Krishnamoorthy said the 75 district secretaries signed a statement affirming Palaniswami’s leadership and pledging full support for any decision he takes to “protect” the party. He added that some functionaries were away or unwell, and claimed that 95% of the party’s functionaries stand firmly with Palaniswami.
He also criticised C.V. Shanmugam, alleging that despite being given responsibilities and positions by Palaniswami, he has harmed the party for “the comfort of ministerial office,” and cited constituency-level performance in different districts to support his argument.
