Chennai: The Tamil Nadu cabinet led by Chief Minister Vijay is set to be expanded on Wednesday, with new ministers expected to take oath at Raj Bhavan.

According to Raj Bhavan sources, the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 10.00 am. While the initial indication is that 18 MLAs will be inducted, the number could range from 18 to 23.

In the recent Assembly election, the TVK won 108 seats and formed the government with the support of DMK-led alliance partners including the Congress, CPI(M), CPI, VCK and the Indian Union Muslim League. Vijay and nine ministers were sworn in on May 10.

From the Congress, Rajeshkumar and Viswanathan are expected to become ministers. There is also a possibility of one minister each from the VCK and the Muslim League.

Among TVK legislators, names doing the rounds include Mariya Wilson (Chennai R.K. Nagar), Srinath (Thoothukudi), Balaji Vijay (Erode East), Ramesh (Tiruchy Srirangam), Sarathkumar (Tambaram), Vignesh (Kinathukadavu), Sampath (Coimbatore North), Parvesh (Aranthangi), Ranjithkumar (Kanchipuram) and Rajkumar (Cuddalore). The development would mark the Congress returning to the Tamil Nadu cabinet after 59 years.
