Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Thursday toured the Secretariat campus in Chennai using a battery-powered car.
After stepping out of the Secretariat, he boarded the battery car and visited the historic St Mary’s Church within the complex. He also went to a museum located there.
Officials from the Archaeology Department briefed the Chief Minister about the areas he visited. News of the tour drew many Secretariat employees to the spot, while members of the public gathered in the Fort area to see him.
Only the Chief Minister’s personal staff and security personnel accompanied him during the visit. No ministers were part of the tour.
The Fort complex houses the headquarters of more than 40 state government departments, along with facilities such as a police station, a canteen and a post office.
