Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday said the government has set a target to conduct the NEET re-examination scheduled for June 21 with “100%” accuracy and without errors.

The re-test follows the cancellation of the NEET undergraduate medical entrance exam held on May 3, after allegations surfaced that the question paper had been leaked. The National Testing Agency has announced that the re-exam will be held on June 21.

Speaking at a conference in Delhi, Pradhan said the Centre is intensifying efforts to restore public confidence in the examination process after the controversy.

He added that the government was compelled to take tough decisions after irregularities were detected, and stressed that no deserving student should lose their rightful opportunity due to fraud by exam “mafias”.

Pradhan also noted that the controversy has caused mental stress to around 22 lakh students, and said the authorities have acknowledged the situation and taken responsibility while moving ahead with strict measures.
