Chennai: Chief Minister Vijay on Friday said the Tamil Nadu government will act firmly to ensure strict punishment under the law for those involved in brutal acts against women and children.
In a statement, he said a horrific incident involving a 10-year-old girl in Coimbatore had caused deep pain and shock. He stressed that such inhuman and unforgivable crimes cannot be accepted in society.
The Chief Minister expressed his condolences and shared his grief with the girl’s family, who are suffering after being separated from their child.
He said two accused have been arrested in connection with the case. Vijay added that he has instructed the police to conduct an intensive and swift investigation and to take all steps needed to file the charge sheet without delay.
Reiterating the government’s stance, he said immediate and necessary measures would be taken to ensure those responsible face severe legal consequences.
