New Delhi: The Union government is examining the possibility of conducting a single national-level entrance examination by integrating JEE and NEET.
The move comes in the backdrop of a recent NEET question paper leak that triggered nationwide concern. Following the incident, the Centre announced that the exam would be cancelled and a re-test would be held, and also said the test would be conducted in computer-based mode from next year.
A parliamentary committee is also looking into the NEET paper leak. In this context, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has informed the panel that the government is considering whether a combined national common entrance test for undergraduate engineering and medical admissions is feasible.
The review is being taken up in line with recommendations made by a high-level committee headed by former ISRO chairman K. Radhakrishnan, constituted after the 2024 NEET irregularities. If approved, the proposal could pave the way for a single entrance test for both JEE and NEET in the future.
