Chennai: Tamil Nadu Prohibition and Excise Minister Vignesh has warned that officials will face action if they are found to be complicit in rule violations by liquor factories.
The minister issued the warning during a review meeting in Chennai on the functioning of the Prohibition and Excise Department. Department Commissioner Karthika and other officials attended the meeting.
Vignesh instructed district-level officers to audit and confirm whether recreation clubs are functioning properly.
He also directed officials to maintain continuous, strict monitoring to ensure that illicit liquor brewing and sales do not take place. Excise supervisory officers were asked to ensure liquor factories operate strictly within prescribed norms, and immediate action would follow if violations are detected, including against any officials who aided them.
