Madurai: Acting on Chief Minister Vijay’s instructions, Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) Sandeep Rai Rathore has begun holding daily review meetings with senior police officers across the state.

For the past four days, the DGP, along with ADGP (Law & Order) Maheshwar Dayal, has been conducting two-hour video conferences with all 38 district Superintendents of Police, nine police commissioners and four range IGs.

The move follows the Chief Minister’s stated focus on law and order, women’s safety and preventing drug-related offences. Despite this, isolated law-and-order issues have been reported in parts of the state.

With complaints that the police were acting sluggishly, the Chief Minister directed the DGP to consult district-level leadership daily and issue necessary guidance.

Police officers have also been instructed to communicate to the public, without concealment, the actions taken by the police and details of cases and incidents that are of public concern.
