Three AIADMK MLAs who resigned from the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Sunday later met Chief Minister Vijay in Chennai and conveyed their greetings.

The MLAs—Maragatham Kumaravel (Madurantakam), Sathyabama (Dharapuram) and Jayakumar (Perundurai), described as supporters of the Velumani faction—submitted their resignation letters to Speaker JCD Prabhakar.

The Speaker said he examined the letters within an hour and accepted the resignations, stating that the submissions were in line with the rules.

After submitting their resignations, the three met TVK minister Aadhav at his office, where they were received with a shawl and issued TVK membership identity cards. About 20 minutes after the Speaker’s official announcement, they were seen leaving the minister’s room and then met the Chief Minister for a brief interaction lasting over five minutes.

Meanwhile, AIADMK MP Inbathurai alleged that the sequence of events was pre-planned and termed it “horse-trading,” pointing to the quick meeting with the minister and the rapid issuance of party membership cards even before the Speaker’s announcement.
