US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the Taj Mahal in Agra on Sunday along with his wife, Jeanette Rubio, and their children. He described the Mughal-era monument as “one of the world’s romantic treasures.”

Rubio is in India on a four-day visit. During the trip, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi for talks aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.

Officials said discussions also included a possible trade agreement between the two countries. The visit was part of a series of engagements focused on deepening cooperation.

The US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, accompanied Rubio to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the family also took photographs. Authorities said security was tightened around the monument, and tourists already inside were asked to step out temporarily during the high-profile visit.
