Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Devaswom Board Minister Muralidharan has said strict action will be taken against anyone linked to the Sabarimala gold theft case, without political bias.

The theft, involving gold taken from the door guardian idols at the famed Sabarimala Ayyappa temple, triggered widespread shock. Police have arrested Unnikrishnan Pothi as a key accused in the case.

Investigators have also found that former Devaswom Board officials were allegedly involved as accomplices. The previous Left Democratic Front government had faced allegations that it attempted to shield certain individuals, turning the issue into a major political flashpoint in Kerala.

With the newly sworn-in United Democratic Front government led by Chief Minister Satheeshan taking up the matter, the minister said the administration is waiting for the Special Investigation Team’s report and that action will intensify once it is received.

Separately, Muralidharan, who also oversees the health department, said people need not panic over the Ebola virus situation, adding that precautionary steps have been taken across Kerala and checks have been intensified at airports and ports to monitor arrivals from abroad.
